Today's painting goal idea came from a T.V. story about the director John Ford using Utah as a backdrop for filming westerns in the 1930s. I began the composition with curved lines, used burnt sienna, blue complement and yellow for drama for this western sunset.

The inspiration for today's painting goal came from a stunning summer landscape photograph posted on Andrew Sullivan's Daily Dish blog. In my mind, the photographer captured the values of green and yellow and the shapes of the trees and fields perfectly. My goal was to push values while using a limited palette to create a specific time and place.
