Road through the Loess Hills

Daily painting #13
9x12 watercolor on Arches
I wanted to depict some of the personality of the Loess Hills and therefore chose a corner where the road had been carved through the hills, leaving the exposed "loess soil" This landscape began with a preliminary sketch which provided a good reference. THe weather changed to overcast with strong winds, but put some finals touches on the the painting in the comfort of the car!
